What do the Lens Index numbers mean?

The Lens Index number (1.50, 1.57, 1.53, 1.59, 1.61, 1.67, or 1.74) refers to the degree of refraction the lens provides. This means how much the light that enters the lens is refracted (bent) as it passes through the lens. Lens Index is also related to the thickness of the lens. The higher the index, the thinner the lens will be. People with higher prescriptions should choose high-index lenses.

How do I get thinner lenses?

Glasses tend to get quite thick at high correction, especially some low index (1.50) lenses.

At the same time, there is less need for a high index if you have a very low prescription. If you are already at -2.00 diopters or less, spending the extra money will make no noticeable difference for you. A mid index 1.57 is plenty in this -2.00 diopter scenario.

Once you get close to -5.00 diopters, moving the index higher to a 1.61 is a good idea, if it fits your budget.

From there, if you have a prescription over -6.00 diopters, a 1.67 high index lens is a worthwhile upgrade. It is with those thicker lenses at higher prescriptions, that we start to experience optical distortion that is notable when wearing that correction for many hours every day.

Optical distortion, increasing as you increase prescription strength, adds unwanted eye strain.
At -8.00 diopters or more, you will want to spend the extra, and go all the way to a 1.71 high index.

How long does it take to get my prescription glasses?

Glasses can take from 1 - 3 days, depending on the prescription, special finishes, etc. We are committed to providing your eyewear in the least amount of time possible without sacrificing our high - quality standards. To accommodate the many product enhancements that are now available, special processing is sometimes required. These orders are typically processed within 7 - 14 business days.

What lens coatings do you sell?

All Cyxus eyeglasses come with Anti-Scratch Coating and UV Protection Coating that are both absolutely free. We also offer Anti-blue light (also known as blue light filter) Coatings, which block the blue light from digital screens/LED lights while you are wearing your glasses.

Can you replace lenses if I send you my frame?

Sorry, we don't provide lens replacement.
